It's time to buy stuff and review it! Today we review the Paw Plunger for Dogs!There is one time of year that every dog owner dreads. Muddy Paw Season. For some Muddy Paw Season (MPS) lasts a week or two. For two weeks paws must be had washed/wiped before being let into the house. Some dog owners deal with MPS for a month out of the year. Digging mud and blades of grass out from in between puppy toes. Dodging puppy teeth and inevitably getting muddy paws all over themselves in the process. For me, MPS is a good four to five months sporadically sprinkled through out the year and due to the poor drainage in our backyard, we really have some big mud deal with. It is a lot. It's a lot of mess, a lot of wiping, a lot of dog baths because you just can't deal.... it takes it's toll.
When we decided to lay down new flooring in our home it was determined immediately that we needed a new plan, a new product SOMETHING to help with our muddy paw issues. This led me to search the Google machine for a product I could purchase that could be used to easily clean mud off of paws. After much research and a brief consideration of doggie booties I came across the Paw Plunger. The name caught my attention first, then the gimmikiness of it all wrangled me in for the click. To my surprise the product seemed to be legit and reviews were good. I made the purchase, got some microfiber cloths to go with and waited for UPS to bring me my goods.
The Paw Plunger looks like this and is basically a golfball cleaner for dog paws.

Basically you fill up the Paw Plunger with water about half way or so and screw the top back on. When your dog comes in with muddy paws you take one, plunge it a few times and then wipe with a microfiber cloth (or regular towel but I did find the microfiber clothes work the best to get that last bit of residual mud off the paw) and move on to the next paw. Works SO well I can't rave enough about it.
Pros:
- It works. Cleans the paws of the mud very well.
- Size. It fits easily in my kitchen cabinet when "dry season" is upon us. Isn't clunky to work with.
- Easy to clean. Can be put in the dishwasher however a quick rinsing out after use is all I have ever needed to do. But you do you.
- Price. At about $20 it doesn't break the bank.
Cons:
- Though I love the simplicity of the design I am not in love with the finish of the plastic. I can never seem to get it really clean even after scrubbing and washing it repeatedly. Some dirt always seems to stick to it. It isn't awful but it isn't great either.
- Make sure you get the right size. It comes in small, medium and large. The large is hella large. Like Klidsdale large. I got the medium for my boxer and it is plenty large enough for any great dane paw I can imagine. Unless you are plunging a pony I would stear clear of the large.
Final verdict, if you have a dog with paws that walks outside, get one. You won't regret it. Also great to keep in the car for when you don't want to bring the outside dirt, inside of your car.
